Question: How can I get rid of old paint cans?
Answer: Most likely, we can take them away for you. The trick is to make sure the paint inside is entirely dry. Then, you can just put them out with your regular trash. The EPA does not allow us to haul liquids, but as long as the paint is dry, no problem.
Question: What about hazardous waste and materials?
Answer: We are not licensed to haul away any hazardous waste. If you have hazardous waste that you need to get rid of, please contact the county in which you live.
Question: What happens if I have items for disposal outside my trash can?
Answer: Our drivers don’t want to take your treasures. To be sure, call us prior to pickup. We’ll let the driver know to be expecting the additional items and discuss with you any extra charges you might incur.
Question: What do I do if I need an extra pickup of my trash?
Answer: Just give us a call. We will be happy to put an additional pickup on our schedule and tell you what extra charges you will incur (if using automated service). For sticker service, just place stickers on all bags to be picked up. If you find that you are frequently scheduling extra service, it may be more economical to upgrade your pickup frequency. We will gladly help you choose your most economical option.
Question: What happens if my trash can is blocked at the time of my pickup?
Answer: In an effort to continue to keep your costs down, we sincerely request that you make sure we have easy access to your trash can on your pickup day. Our trucks and drivers are very efficient. They are not instructed to wait while vehicles or other things blocking access are moved.
Question: Do I have to use 13 gallon bags?
Answer: No. Other bags weighing less than 40 pounds each are easily handled and gladly accepted. Larger bags do require 2 stickers if you are using sticker service. Since we like to do a thorough job and do not want to leave rubble littering your property or neighborhood please have all your trash contained securely in bags.
Question: What can’t I put in my trash can?
Answer: Sorry, no liquids, hazardous waste, car tires/batteries, freon appliances, animal carcasses/waste, or large pieces of wood or metal. We can make special arrangements for some of these items. We also require special arrangements for earthly materials like dirt, sand, ashes, yard waste and gravel.
Question: Can bad weather conditions cause my service to be interrupted?
Answer: There will be very few times where weather conditions will make it impossible to provide service. To avoid possible damage to your property, and insure everyone’s safety, our drivers use their best judgment accessing your location. Of course regular service will resume at your next scheduled day.
Question: Can I put my remodeling and construction debris out for pickup?
Answer: No, not for a normal pickup. For disposal of these types of materials, simply call us to let us know the type of compactable materials you need picked up. This way we can be sure to use the right equipment to accommodate it and we will make a determination at that time if we can haul it. Keep in mind there is different pricing for construction, demolition materials and large furniture type items.
Question: I’ll be doing spring cleaning; can I get my extra stuff picked up?
Answer: Absolutely. Just put them out with your regular pickup. For especially large quantities of extra items or large items like furniture and mattresses, please call us ahead of time. We’ll be sure to send the right equipment to get it picked up. Keep in mind there is different pricing for large and heavy items.

Question: Animals get into my trash. Do you have any suggestions?
Answer: We know this can be a real problem, especially in rural areas. We can provide a trash can with wheels and a lid at a monthly rate of $5.00. If you sign a one year agreement with us, we can supply a trash can at no extra charge. Please remember that these trash cans are the property of Prestige Refuse & Recycling and we hope that you will take care of them. They do have to be returned if you decide not to continue service. These cans are very sturdy, keep the animals out, are quite mobile, and stand up nicely to heavy winds when full. Of course you can purchase a trash container at a retail store if you prefer.
Question: Can I get vacation credit if I use the automated service?

Answer: Certainly! Just suspend your service in advance and we won’t charge you for the time away. Remember, if you are moving away or need to cancel for any reason please call to avoid further charges.
